I believe I’m called to change the world by creating representation of black glass artists. Glass is a very expensive medium to work in and the majority of glass artists are white men. For many years Glass art was a white man only trade that did not welcome people of color or women. I didn't have a clue about glass being a medium for art until I was 14. When working with glass you can get cut, burned, bruised and sometimes you can drop and break an entire piece . After talking to other young glass artists of color from other states at the Glass Art Conference 2022, I learned they didn't feel welcomed in the glass community when they first started out. It wasn't until I was in my late 20’s that I saw or learned about a glass artist of color like Einar & Jamex De la Torre ,and Boyd Sugiki. Then it was not until I was 30 years old that I had the chance to meet and work alongside other glass artists of color like Cedric Mitchell and Jason McDonald.
