I've always draw on a piece of paper, graphite pencils and I was sure to make sure to never use color. Color use to scare me and I didn't want to ruin a piece that I spend hours working on. These paintings challenge me to step out of my comfort zone, discover a new medium, and go from a world of black and white to a range of colors. They are a symbol of growth for me.
These paintings are inspired by the simple things; a smile, a hoodie that caught the attention of my young nephew, emotions, etc. These paintings are an escape, not for the person looking at them but for me, being able to get lost in adding details, colors, and convey a thought or idea that popped in my head is helpful, especially when your brain runs a thousand miles a minute. I always try to leave a piece of me in every piece so the people looking at it can get to know me, even if it's just for a brief second.
